Applications from potential mentoring organization will be accepted from 8th March untill 12th March. Students will be able to apply from 29th March until 9th April.

In addition – organizers are asking for help with preparing the program – most active volunteers will be rewarded with surprises. If You want to help, here is what You could do:

• “Spread the word” – organize small presentation about GSoC at Your University and encourage Your colleagues to participate in The Program. If You tell Google about Your presentation – information about it will be placed in special callendar. You can also write a post about the event, send it to Google and they will put the information on their blog about Open Source Software.
• You can help with updating last year presentations
• You can record video about the program and upload it to official Google chanell on YouTube
• You can help with translating flyers and after translating You can hang them in Your University
• inform interest groups that are operating in Your University

And I must admit – I’m positively surprised. There is a lot of organizations that decided not to wait until the last moment and have arleady begun to prepare for next edition of the program. This is list of  most interesting projects that (in my opinion) have a great chance to participate in the GSoC 2001:

XBMC – they published lists of potential mentors and projects. There is also one very important note on the project: no qualification task = no project. So if You want to participate in GSoC 2010 for XBMC You have to do one of the task that are listed here. The sooner You start the better!

ITK – They didn’t participate in the previous edition of the program, but have a great chance to participate in this year edition. Potential project: Insight Toolkit

Haiku – my personal best of this list! Great project, great code, great proposal list. They definetly will be participating in GSoC 2010. And I will be applaying for them. You should to. So start contributing! NOW!

The list is short. I know. But the 2010 barely started. And the beginning of the next year is very good time to start contributing to the project You want apply for Google Summer of Code 2010! Simple: don’t waste time!

I’m pleased to welcome You on my new blog, where I want to write about projects in which I’m involved and publish text that are somehow related to the programming topic.

Who am I? I’m a fourth year Computer Science student at Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics Faculty at Gdansk University of Technology. Besides, I’m passionate C++ programmer. My adventure with “serious” programming began in mid-2009 when I started developing OpenImageIO library – this was my mentor organization in Google Summer of Code 2009 program. So, as You can guess I am not an expert when it comes to programming or software development!

Recently (in November 2009) I was hired by ADVA Optical Networking as a R&D Associate Software Developer and as for now I’m very happy because of this.

This is not my first blog. The first is at http://matekm.jogger.pl – I write there only in polish, so if You don’t know this language, You don’t find anything interesting there. The second one (my first approach to writing in english) is My adventure with Open Source where I tried to write about my adventure with OIIO and GSoC2009. Unfortunately I lost enthusiasm very quickly.

I hope this time will be different!
